LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Two people are behind bars after the Florida Department of Children and Family Services received a report of possible child abuse via their abuse hotline.

According to a report from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, a child complained he was not able to sit on carpet because "his spine hurt", saying Jessica Jules and Mohamed Draou took turns whipping him with a cell phone cord on his arms and back.

He also said he was taken into a garage where Draou threatened to cut off his hands with a machete before leaving him alone in the garage for an unknown amount of time.

Deputies spoke to Jules and Draou who say they were angry the child had lied to them about his behavioral assessment color being downgraded at school.

Jules and Draou have been charged with Cruelty Toward a Child.

It is unknown what the relationship of the child is to the pair.
