Charlotte County Sheriff's Office shuts down marijuana grow operation

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Charlotte County Narcotics and Street Crimes Units arrested two people in the Gulf Cove community, Thursday, in connection with a marijuana grow operation.

Law enforcement officials swarmed the home of Barbara and Michael Green on the 12400th Block of Minot Avenue, where they found an abundance of illegal narcotics. During the search, officials found plant holders, lights, timers, circuit breakers; large watering jugs with hoses attached, various chemicals and hydroponic fertilizer. The items are all consistent with a grow house operation.

Investigators found nearly 40 pounds of cannabis and more than $2,000 cash inside the home. Additionally, they found almost $400 in cash, 2.1 grams of cannabis, and rolling papers in a car on the property. 

The Greens have been arrested on charges of tracking more than 25 pounds of cannabis, manufacturing cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a public nuisance place where controlled substances illegally kept..
