CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Cape Coral City Council will vote, Monday, whether to extend a city-wide traffic signal study to include two major intersections.
The city is already studying 31 traffic signals to improve the flow of traffic. Officials say the intersections of Pine Island Road and Nicholas Parkway, along with Coronado Parkway and Southeast 47th Terrace also affect the flow of traffic in the city.
"These signalized intersections are coordinated with the other signals included in the study, and for the scope of the project to be completed, data collection and timing revision for the two additional signals are required," said Cape Coral Spokesperson
People who work in the areas hope the studies will ease congestion as the Cape continues to grow. "People are always running this red light, people cut through this driveway, they're going to run over someone coming out of the dog groomers," said Cheryl Knapp, who works at the Cape Barber Shop on the corner of Coronado Parkway and Southeast 47th Terrace.
