Cape Coral teen arrested after stolen car found in Broward County

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A 17-year-old Cape Coral resident has been transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Lee County after a stolen car was found across state.

The teen is facing one charge of Grand Theft Auto.

According to Cape Coral Police, the the car was reported stolen overnight from a driveway on SW 1st Place back on May 26th.

By the time the owner noticed it was gone in the morning and called police, the vehicle had already been located in Broward County after apparently being involved in a traffic crash.

Detectives later developed probable cause to make the arrest.
