An intense scene after a standoff today in one Cape Coral neighborhood.

Neighbors became alarmed after hearing what appeared to be gunshots.

Police say the incident involved two residents.

“We believe a shot was fired into the home from another home,” said Master Corporal

Philip Mullen of the Cape Coral Police Department.

They have identified the woman arrested as Patricia McConville after she refused to surrender to officers.

Just before noon, Cape Coral officers responded to the 1300 block of SE 45th Street after neighbors reported hearing loud popping sounds.

“It might have been gunshots or something that sounded like gunshots. That’s when everyone kinda came in, the cops and they wanted to talk to her, ” said neighbor Chris Morea.

Police say as they attempted to question the woman they believed fired a gunshot, she refused to cooperate.

They say Patricia McConville barricaded herself inside her home. this prompted additional officers and a swat team to respond.

They crowded the neighborhood and negotiated with McConville to come out.

McConville kicked one of the officers, while she was getting precautionary medical attention. She also spat at officers when at the base of her driveway.

“We did get the suspect in custody after a short barricade situation where they didn’t want to come out of the home,” said Master Corporal Philip Mullen.

Neighbors say police have been to the residence several times this week.

“Monday night she threw a brick through the window, police were here Monday and Tuesday night and then this morning, “ said neighbor Vicki Mikusek.

McConville was taken into custody, and charges are currently pending.

Neighbors worry she may be a danger to herself and others.

“I mean hopefully she doesn’t come back, I hate to say that, but if she’s going to be dangerous considering she is near a school anything could happen,” said Chris Morea.

Police are still investigating today’s incident.
