CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- The Cape Coral Police Department is hoping to make the holidays brighter for kids across Southwest Florida, and you can help.

They're having a toy drive Wednesday at two schools in Cape Coral, where students and officers are getting in the giving spirit.

The drive kicked off at 7 a.m. at Oasis Elementary/Middle, and also at Christa McAuliffe Elementary.

All of the toys collected there will go to the Children's Network of Southwest Florida, which is an awesome non-profit organization that provides child welfare services for over 2,000 children across Southwest Florida.

So your donation will go to a deserving child who may not have a Christmas without this help.

Oasis Elementary is located at 3415 Oasis Boulevard, off Gleason Parkway.  Christa McAuliffe Elementary is located at 2817 SW 3rd Lane in Cape Coral.

Cape Police are also holding their 11th annual "Fill The Boat" Toy Drive for the 2017 holiday season.

For three days this upcoming weekend, beginning Friday, December 15th through Saturday, December 16th, the Cape Coral Police Department will be at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, located at 1619 Del Prado Blvd. from 11:00 AM-7:00 PM each day collecting toys for kids in need in Cape Coral. A Cape Coral Police Department Marine Unit boat will be on display and will serve as the drop-off/collection point.
