CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Cape Coral Police department is going green!
The department is one of the first in the country to get a brand new hybrid SUV's built as police vehicles.
The department will get two of the SUV's in December and may order more.
The hope is to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The vehicles will cost $2500 more than the gas-powered version.
A new safety feature on the SUV's is a perimeter alert, which warns officers if someone comes up from behind and automatically rolls up the windows and locks the doors.
