CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral Police responded to a call on the 400th block of SW 44th Terrace on March 5th about a traffic fatality.
An investigator who responded says Leslie Wilkins parked his vehicle in his driveway and began to exit.
The driver’s door remained open when the vehicle started to roll back. The open door swept Wilkins to the ground and dragged him along.
The vehicle continued to roll and crossed over SW 44th Terrace from south to north.
It came to a stop on the front lawn of another residence.
Sadly, Wilkins was trapped under the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators say alcohol/drugs are not thought to be a factor in the traffic crash.
