A Cape Coral father says speeding has become a big problem on his street, and when he tried to confront a speeder near his home, it ended with a gun in his face.

Cape Coral Police arrested Barry Williams, 41, was Tuesday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper exhibition of a firearm.

Michael Wenger said when a motorcyclist came speeding down his street for the second time on Tuesday, he decided to do something about it.

"I saw him coming around the corner so I started running into the corner of the road, and as he's coming by, I'm screaming at him," Wenger said.

Wenger admitted he used strong language toward the motorcyclist, who kept driving.

He said a few minutes later, Williams -- a friend of the motorcyclist -- pulled his car up to his driveway. Wenger said he walked up to the car window to talk to him.

"As soon as I walked up to the window, there was a nine millimeter pointed right at my face," Wenger said. "Maybe three inches from my head."

He said Williams continued to threaten him.

His neighbor called 911. Cape Coral Police said Williams' gun was loaded with a round in the chamber.

"One little slip of the finger and it would have been over," Wenger said.

He said he was up til 4 o'clock Wednesday morning thinking about what happened, but is more concerned about the speeders whizzing by his kids and others on NE 9th Court in Cape Coral.

"Thirty miles an hour is the posted speed limit on these roads," Wenger said.

He estimates the motorcyclist was going 60-65 miles per hour.

Other neighbors have even put up signs to let drivers know children are playing in the neighborhood.

"The cars just come flying down. Not all the cars, but 99 percent of the cars are flying down this road," Jan Shaw, Wenger's neighbor, said.

"People, please just slow down in these neighborhoods," Wenger said. "Just watch out for these kids." Williams has since bonded out of jail.
