CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Police arrested a suspect accused of robbing the NE Pine Island Road Dollar General in Cape Coral twice last month.

Officers say the first robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. on April 28, 2022.

They say he had a large knife and demanded money and then left in a silver SUV.

The second robbery happened the next day around 2:45 p.m.

Cape Coral police say an officer located a vehicle matching the same description close to the crime scene.
Officers say this vehicle was the suspected vehicle in the robbery that had just occurred.

The driver was pulled over and identified as Roberto Borges.

Investigators say Borges had a yellow plastic bag on his front seat like the Dollar General plastic bag. A red in color knife was also located wedged near the front seats.

Police say the victim positively identified him as the person who committed these crimes on both days.

He is charged with both armed robberies.
