CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Cape Coral City Council approved a healthcare facility for city employees that will save you the taxpayers money.
“How will this benefit the taxpayer, will it cost us less,” said Cape Coral resident.
The answer to that question is yes according to Cape Coral city leaders and this is how it works, “migrate claims from Florida Blue, where costs are higher where they increase 8-10% a year to the healthcare clinic.”
The clinic will be for city employees, retirees, and family members and will be located across the street from city hall.
“It’ll be abut 2,400 square feet, a modular unit, it will be a fully functioning health care facility, that will be staffed by a physician.” Connie Barron, city of Cape Coral.
“It’ll be a zero cost co-pay for any medical visit and/or prescription refill.”
City leaders say taxpayers will save almost $4 million the first three years and $8 million over the next five years.
“So this is a win-win, it’s going to save money for the taxpayers and well as the employees,” said Councilman Dave Stokes, District 5.
Employees must enter into healthcare by December 30, 2019 to use this service.
The facility will be operating in January 2020.
