Charlotte County Fire confirmed a 205-acre brush fire burning in Punta Gorda Sunday.
The fire is now 85 percent contained, Florida Forest Services said.
Crews are battling the blaze happening between FL 31 and County Road 74. This is near the Babcock Ranch Preserve Footprints Trail.
"It's extremely windy out here, what it's doing is taking embers and throwing it ahead of the fire," said Patrick Mahoney with the Florida Forestry Service.
No word on what caused the fire. No homes are being threatened.
