NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Police say they'll be conducting off-road enforcement detail in rural parts of North Port this weekend after a boy was thrown from an ATV on Sunday.

North Port Police say that the accident happened at the intersection of Yorkshire and Shortleaf drives.

That's where a truck collided with an ATV, knocking a 10-year-old passenger off the ATV. The ATV's driver was charged with failure to register a motor vehicle, no insurance, and driving with a suspended license.

The boy is expected to make a full recovery.

Police remind citizens that while some eastern parts of the city are popular off-road locations, it does not mean that it is legal to ride in those areas.

They will be conducting a zero-tolerance off-road enforcement detail the weekend of July 26-28, and urge riders to find legal locations to ride.
