LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.-- Troopers have identified a man and child killed in a Lehigh Acres collision Thursday evening.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of East 14th Street and North Avenue.

Troopers say a car headed northbound on North Avenue stopped at the stop sign but then proceeded into the intersection into the path of an eastbound pickup truck, which troopers say was speeding.

The truck slammed into the left side of the car.

The car's driver, 51-year-old Chester Baker of Lehigh Acres, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His passengers, 47-year-old Dawn Baker and 4-year-old Jamison Royce, were critically injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where the child was later pronounced dead.

The truck's driver suffered minor injuries, as did an 11-year-old female passenger, who was taken to Lehigh Acres Regional Hospital for treatment.
