DeSOTO COUNTY, Fla. – We now know the name of the victim in a deadly crash in DeSoto County early Tuesday morning.
Florida Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Joseph Kriegel of Arcadia was killed in the crash.
Troopers say that just before 2 a.m., Kriegel was driving a pickup truck north on U.S. 17, in the area of Hull Avenue in the Fort Ogden community. That’s when Kriegel swerved onto the median, then overcorrected and crossed to the grassy shoulder, entered a grassy ditch, and hit a utility pole.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Results of an alcohol test are pending.
