FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Following the violent aftermath of this weekend's protests in Charlottesville, Virginia, Southwest Floridians will continue to gather for rallies promoting peace.

An anti-violence rally is planned Tuesday evening in Centennial Park in downtown Fort Myers at 5 pm.

The rally is being held following the death of Heather Heyer, who died over the weekend after being run over when riots broke out between counter protestors and white supremacists.

Also Monday, the Lee County NAACP will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. to discuss efforts to remove a monument of Robert E. Lee from downtown Fort Myers.

Organizers also held a peace rally in Naples on Monday night, where demonstrators joined together in the fight for racial justice.
