A LaBelle man was killed in a wrong-way crash that happened early Saturday morning.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the crash at approximately 3:18 a.m on State Road 80 at Balsey Road.
42-year-old Juan Carlos Monjaras of LaBelle was traveling west on State Road 80 in an eastbound travel lane when he collided with an eastbound pickup truck with a 16-year-old driver, Florida Highway patrol said.
The teenage driver, Marc Heckler of Lehigh Acres, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital and faces critical injuries. Monjaras was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have ruled out alcohol for the teenager as a factor in the crash. A ruling for Monjaras is still pending.
