This morning at 8:40 to Charlotte County Fire and EMS responded to the report of a structure fire located at 2070 Backton Street Port Charlotte. On arrival firefighters found the home with some heavy smoke coming from the interior.
Firefighters worked quickly to gain entry to the home for a primary search.
This home sustain heavy fire and smoke damage.
Initial reports from bystanders stated there may be a family still in the home, however the primary and secondary search did not locate anyone present in the house at the time of the fire. The State Fire Marshal has been called in for an investigation and Crews remained on scene mopping up.
We have a crew headed to the location to learn more about the extent of the fire and to determine if anyone was injured.
