LEE COUNTY, Fla., - A Riverdale High School student took a picture of her ham and cheese wrap after she noticed it contained discolored meat.

"I was absolutely disgusted. I wanted to throw up," said Alexandrea Anderson.

Other students at the school described the image as, "greenish, brownish and moldy looking."

"It's not right," said Michael Arbelo, a parent.

Four In Your Corner sent the picture to the Lee County School District. A spokesperson says the school typically throws away food products that are visually unappealing. But in this case, after the student told the kitchen staff, they offered her another sandwich wrap and apologized.

"Our District kitchen staff follow strict time, temperature, and labeling processes in order to assure product safety and wholesomeness and we are confident this was only a discoloration issue that surfaced after the item was prepared. All District safety protocols were followed," said Sonny Stelmacki, the Director of Food and Nutrition Services with the District.

Alexandrea says following her experience, her appetite for school lunch has gone bad.

"After yesterday, I'm done. I refuse to eat their food. I'm going to start taking my own lunch," said Anderson.

Four In Your Corner looked at health inspection reports to see if the school has had any health violations recently. The latest inspection done earlier this month was satisfactory.
