The Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles men's basketball team soared high at Alico Arena Thursday night, lighting up the scoreboard and sending a packed house into a frenzy.

It was a night to remember for fans and players at the ASUN Conference Championship semifinal game, where FGCU defeated Kennesaw State, 74-62.

Some Eagle fans think this year's squad has more potential than previous NCAA tournament teams.  "I think it's a better team than what we had last year, better athletes. The 2012 team didn't even have quite the athletes that this team has," said Eagles fan Floyd Page.

Other fans still want to see a couple more games before they are ready to book a deep tournament run.

The Sun Conference title game will be Sunday, March 5th.  FGCU (25-7) will host North Florida (14-18) at Alico Arena in Fort Myers.

The winner gets an automatic bid to the NCAA March Madness Tournament.
