CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Neighbors are voicing their concerns over a grisly discovery along a Cape Coral canal. Two decapitated goats and a chicken were reportedly found near the corner of Surfside Boulevard and Beach Parkway on Saturday.

17-year-old Joey LaMountain and his friends first found the animals when they stopped to say hi to a friend who was fishing.  "He called the cops right when we got here and they said they couldn't do anything," said LaMountain.

Two days later other residents who live in the area said they originally thought coyotes were to blame.

"I think if a coyote was going to do the job they would have ate the whole thing and not just the head, they would have ate the rest of the body, so that believes it could be something else," said Lou Anderson.

So is it Santeria? Some kind of voodoo? Cape Coral Police said nothing can be ruled out.  "A lot of times this is left overs from religious practices or left overs from hunters," said Sgt. Dana Coston.

Residents said at this point they are just upset they don't know the story behind the slaughter.

"But where did the head really go, nobody knows," said Anderson.

Fox 4 reached out to '311', formerly known as the Cape Coral Citizens Action Center. We are told Waste Pro was contacted and plans to remove the goat carcasses in the next 24 hours.
