Winter can be uncomfortable and inconvenient but it can also be pretty darn gorgeous. We have some of the most wonderful winter festivals you can enjoy across America.

1. Winterfest

At the Seattle Center, this festival has a view of the lit up space needle. Downtown Seattle hosts it's festival all December long with an ice skating rink and carolers. You can also watch blocks of ice morph into works of art.

2. The International Snow Sculpture Championships

In Breckenridge, Colorado tons of people come to carve up 12 feet tall, 20 ton blocks of snow. It kicks off January 22 and you can see the completed sculptures lit up on the 25th.

3. The Winter Carnival

St. Paul, Minnesota has the coolest celebration on earth, literally! The average temperature in January is 26 degrees, but that doesn't stop Minnesotans from turning it into the most fun 17 days of the year.

4. Michigan Ice Fest

If you are seeking an ice cold thrill Munising, Michigan has what you are looking for. Most people don't think of Michigan as a great ice climbing area but it really is. Starting February 14th you can start ice climbing.
