FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Lee County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a 51-year-old man with a long criminal record for the murder of a church volunteer.

Brett Pleasant was arrested Thursday.

Pleasant is charged with murdering JoAnn Leasure in her condo at The Parkway Apartment in North Fort Myers last Wednesday.

Close friends of JoAnn worried when she didn't show up to volunteer for Vacation Bible School.

Undersheriff Carmine Marceno says investigators worked around the clock to solve the homicide. "Our Major Crimes detectives and Forensics Unit personal left no stone unturned in this murder," said Undersheriff Marceno. "With the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and our partners at the State Attorney's Office, we have built a solid case against the monster responsible for this senseless murder. Sheriff Scott and I could not be more proud of the law enforcement teamwork in this case."

Pleasant is charged with Second Degree Murder and Robbery.
