5 Things to do this Weekend November 17th to 19th in Southwest Florida

There will be lots of different annual events and festivals happening this weekend in Southwest Florida.

The Annual Sandsculpting Championship, the Annual Boat Show, the Annual Old Florida Festival, the Edison Fall Garden Festival and the monthly Music Walk event. You will have no option but to have fun this weekend in SWFL!

31st Annual American Sandsculpting Championship

Fort Myers Beach, FL -  The 31st Annual American Sandsculpting promises to be an exciting event. It will be the largest sand sculpting competition in the State. This will be a fun-filled Championship that will include World Class Master Sand Sculptors, a State Championship contest, Amateur contest, Quick Sand Speed Sculpting, Sand Sculpting Demonstrations and Lessons, Flying Colors, a kids activity area, and more than 50 vendors. Awards ceremonies will be on Sunday the 19th and also Sunday the 26th. Attendees will have the opportunity to view up to 30 works of art on display throughout the event. In all over 2000 tons of sand will be piled and sculpted

45th Annual Boat Show

Fort Myers, FL - The 45th Annual Fort Myers Boat Show, at the Harborside Event Center and the City Yacht Basin is shaping up to be the biggest show in the last several years. On the Caloosahatchee River, in the heart of the historic “River District”. This is just about the perfect setting for a show with a unique combination of indoor, outdoor and in-water display areas. You will find more than 500 boats, 160 accessory booths, 100 plus different boat lines, and a variety of how-to and boating information displays. With just about every type of boat imaginable, you will find inflatables, personal watercrafts, skiffs, bay boats, flats boats, center console boats, pontoon boats, deck boats, cruising boats, performance boats and much more. In Centennial Park, “Fishin’ Frank’s Fishin’ Village” is its own mini-fishing show. There will be tackle displays with many factory reps on hand, a seminar area with local charter captains talking about inshore and offshore fishing, a casting tank, and the popular fishing simulator which gives visitors a chance for a virtual battle with everything from bass to marlin.

Music Walk

Fort Myers, FL - The River District comes alive on the third Friday of the month as local and regional musicians line the streets. From jazz and blues to rock & roll, many genres can be heard and vary each month. Free to the public with many venues featuring additional attractions and specials.

28th Annual Old Florida Festival

Naples, FL - Time travel back over 10,000 years of South Florida history at one of the largest and most popular living history gatherings in the state. This two-day festival features over 90 historical reenactors, craftworkers, demonstrators, folk musicians and storytellers depicting everyday life on the Southwest Florida frontier, from Calusa and Seminole Indians to World War II. This year’s event includes a Spanish fort and garrison, complete with mounted Conquistadors, cannons, a missionary, displays and a Spanish colonial cooking demonstration.

Edison Fall Garden Festival

Throughout the Edison & Ford Winter Estates public gardens and under the Banyan Tree, the Garden Shoppe will be selling unique tropical heritage plants and trees and will be joined by many vendors from across Florida. Gardeners will be delighted at this one stop shopping for unique garden items including flowering trees, unusual tropical plants and fruits, bougainvillea, orchids, roses, bromeliads, palms, cactus, herbs, bonsai, bamboo, fruit, ginger and butterfly plants as well as garden art, honey, and gardening supplies.
