
Lauren Petrelli joined the WFTX team in August 2018 and has become an integral part of our experienced team of meteorologists. While in Southwest Florida, Lauren has covered historic weather events that have shaped our community including the January 16th tornado outbreak and Hurricane Ian.
She was also a Florida Broadcasters Association finalist in 2021 for her environmental reporting on the restoration of Hemp Key in Lee County. Lauren has a passion for telling stories about our water quality and how it impacts you.
Before joining our team, Lauren worked at WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. One of her favorite assignments there was interviewing Al Roker about his in-depth book on the Great Johnstown Flood of 1889.
Lauren graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Communications and earned her Certificate of Broadcast and Operational Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
As a Fort Lauderdale native, Lauren loves to spend a lot of her time outside enjoying the beach and fishing with her husband David.
