Hi there! Thanks for wanting to know a little about me. I grew up in suburban Detroit, and it was there that my lifelong passion for music began.
My dad got me started and taught me a few guitar chords, and I had the great opportunity to play bass on stage for my high school's annual pop music concerts for 3 years. I still have the guitars I got when when I was a teenager!
I studied television production at Western Michigan University (go Broncos!) and after graduating, I worked at radio and TV stations in northern Michigan, working as a DJ and camera operator. I met my future wife Laurie around this time.
After a couple of years I became a news videographer, shooting stories in the field with reporters. I received a couple of awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for stories I worked on in northern Michigan and Lansing.
But I guess some of the reporters' skills rubbed off on me, because while working as a "photog" in Lansing, my news director let me start doing some stories of my own.
In 2011 my wife and I decided we wanted a break from the winters and came south.
I worked as a photog at Fox 4 until the urge to tell stories got the better of me again, and I started working as the station's Collier bureau reporter in June of 2014.
I really enjoy covering this area. And as a bonus, winter is no longer a problem!
