TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Former President Ronald Reagan would have been 110 years old today and to commemorate the 40th President's birthday, Gov. Ron DeSantis has named Feb. 6, 2021 as "Ronald Reagan Day in Florida."

In a proclamation signed Saturday, Gov. DeSantis praised the late former president for his work with the military and the economic growth in the nation during his time as president from 1981 to 1989.

"President Reagan, an iconic leader whose legacy continues to inspire, focused on economic growth, employment, and strengthening national defense, among other things," the proclamation by Gov. DeSantis said.

Ronald Reagan served as the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975 before being elected President of the United States in 1980.

He passed away in 2004 at age of 93 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
