Hey! My name is Malcolm Johnson, and I’m excited to be among the skilled journalists on the FOX 4 Team!
I was born and raised in Washington D.C., then moved to Maryland in High School. Getting a chance to live in the inner city and the suburbs gave me a great chance to learn about two different lifestyles and become friends with a wide variety of people. I gained a great appreciation for culture, diversity and an interest in people.
My father worked as a news cameraman and my mother helped decide media laws as an attorney with the Federal Communications Commission. Journalism has been around me for as long as I can remember. For every fun activity my friends and I did in the neighborhood, I recorded with a handheld camera.
After attending West Virginia University and playing several years of College Lacrosse, I interned for the CBS affiliate in Washington D.C. Along the way, I caught the news bug, and lucky for me, they offered me an entry level job. It was all I needed. I haven’t left the business since.
In my spare time, I coach kids lacrosse and basketball; my two favorite sports. I also stay as active as possible by playing sports or just going for a run.
Reporting is my “job”. Somehow I get paid to go on different adventures everyday and learn more about the world. But for me, I consider it a way to use my curiosity for the better. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about me. I’d love to know more about you and your thoughts on what you’re seeing around Southwest Florida. Shoot me an email any time!
