I was born and raised a few hours from SWFL in North Palm Beach. However, when it came time for college I moved across the country to attend the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. There I covered a wide range of stories from education to the state legislature.
I spent my last semester in college reporting in our Washington, D.C. bureau. I was given the opportunity to report inside the House Chamber during the 2014 State of the Union Address and interview Arizona congressmen and Senator John McCain about immigration and the "Gang of 8" bill.
After graduation I moved to Amarillo, Texas to work as a reporter for KVII. For the next two years I fully immersed myself into the Texas culture, buying my first authentic pair of cowboy boots, enjoying a few too many frito pies and learning when to appropriately say “bless your heart!”
For being market 131, it was never short of interesting stories. I covered the aftermath of a devastating tornado in Pampa, Texas and the resignation of Amarillo’s city manager over a controversial vote to build an MPEV. I also got to ride in a combine during a story about weather patterns affecting corn crops and experience “the smell of money” while covering livestock stories from the pastures of Hereford where 88% of beef for the state is produced!
Although it was tough saying goodbye to the friendly folks of the panhandle I moved to Southwest Florida in August 2016 to work at FOX 4. Within the first two months of being back in my home state I was reporting on Hurricane Matthew, talking to evacuees from the east coast of Florida camping out in parking lots after hotels sold out, and covering rallies for then presidential candidate Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine.
I’m grateful to call Fort Myers home and be a short drive away from sticking my feet in the warm gulf waters and white sand beaches. When I’m not telling you which roads to avoid during your morning commute or covering breaking news of the day, you can catch me poolside reading a non-fiction book or panting on a treadmill during an Orange Theory Fitness class.
As a daughter of triple negative breast cancer survivor, I’m also passionate about volunteering for organizations dedicated to cancer research.
