School closures announced ahead of Hurricane Irma in Southwest Florida

UPDATE (9/7) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott ordered all public schools, colleges and universities to close Friday through Monday.

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA -- As school officials monitor the progress of Hurricane Irma and its threat to Florida, the following Southwest Florida school closures have already been announced:

  • Collier County public schools: Thursday and Friday
  • Cape Coral charter schools: Thursday, Friday and Monday
  • Canterbury School: Thursday, Friday, and Monday
  • Seacrest Country Day School in Naples: Thursday and Friday
  • Hodges University: noon Wednesday until Monday
  • Lee County Public Schools: Thursday and Friday
  • Florida Gulf Coast University: Thursday, Friday, and Monday
  • Southwest Florida Christian Academy: Thursday, Friday and Monday
  • Advanced Learning Academy North Fort Myers: Thursday, Friday and Monday
  • Brown Academy: Thursday and Friday
  • Saint Michael Lutheran School: Thursday and Friday
  • Glades County Public Schools: Thursday and Friday
  • Hendry County Public Schools: Thursday and Friday
  • Saint Andrew Catholic School: Thursday and Friday
  • Saint Francis Xavier Catholic: Thursday and Friday
  • Bishop Verot High School: Thursday and Friday
  • Royal Palm Academy: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday
  • Florida SouthWestern State College: Thursday, Friday and Monday
  • Charlotte County Schools: Thursday and Friday
  • St. Catholic School: Thursday and Friday
  • Noonan Academy: Friday
