Tooth decay is one of the most common chronic conditions among children. In fact, by age five, about 60 percent of children will be affected by tooth decay and children with oral health problems are three times as likely to miss school due to dental pain than children with no oral health problems. Experts say not taking care of childhood tooth decay can lead to greater health issues like infection, speech impediments, teeth discoloration, trouble eating and even tooth loss.
