WASHINGTON, D.C. -   While many will spend their summers on vacation and at the pool - for a lot of students - summer means it's internship time.

Perhaps one of the most desirable types of internships nationwide is those you find on Capitol Hill. One Congressional internship program is providing opportunities to some very special students.

The Congressional internship program for individuals with intellectual disabilities started in 2010 with six offices participating. Since then 52 House and Senate offices have taken part.

All the students participating in these internships come from the George Mason University Life Program - a post secondary program for students with disabilities at the nearby campus in Northern Virginia. But Capitol Hill organizers say they hope over time to include students from other parts of the country too.
