Traffic infractions leads to drug arrests on I-75

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Two vehicles pulled over for traffic infractions on southbound I-75 lead to three arrests and the finding of almost 100 pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash. 

The Lee County Sheriff's Office Highway Unit pulled over a Ford F350 truck and a Cadillic SUV who were traveling together on Tuesday, September 27. During the course of the stop, K9's alerted to both of the vehicles for the presence of narcotic odor. A search of the Ford F350 truck revealed boxes containing 94.4 pounds of marijuana, prepackaged for sale. A search of the Cadillac SUV revealed 14 grams of marijuana and $6,000.00 in US Currency. 

Further investigation revealed the location of additional narcotics in Naples, Florida. During a search warrant, 5 additional pounds of marijuana and several firearms were located. 

Anthony Fernandez was arrested for trafficking marijuana over 25 pounds. Kimberly Rodriguez and her son, German Hernandez, were arrested for conspiracy to commit trafficking marijuana over 25 pounds and possession of marijuana under 20 grams. 

The street value of the marijuana seized in this incident is approximately $300,000.00.
