Fort Myers man arrested for credit and gift card fraud
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A 31-year-old Fort Myers man faces multiple charges related to making and trafficking in phony credit cards.
A traffic stop last week by a Lee County detective on I-75 resulted in the arrest of Alain Bouzi.
A vehicle search revealed a small amount of marijuana along with 111 various gift cards.
Detectives struck pay dirt in the trunk where they found a laptop and a credit card scanner.
15 of the cards had stolen credit card information programmed into them. Bouzi admitted to selling people empty gift cards and selling phony credit cards to overseas customers.
A search of his home uncovered additional gift cards and evidence related to credit card fraud. Detectives found 175 additional gift and credit cards and $1,300 in cash. The gift cards had a value of about $9,000.
