**UPDATE** -- FMPD and Florida Highway Patrol have confirmed one fatality in this morning's crash on Metro Parkway. The roadway is still closed north of Winkler Avenue.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Both directions of Metro Parkway are closed north of Winkler Avenue while police investigate a serious crash Wednesday morning.
The crash happened shortly after 6am in the 3700 block of Metro Parkway, near the Westchase Apartments.
Metro Parkway is closed between Old Metro Parkway and Winkler Avenue.
The road is expected to remain closed for several hours, according to Fort Myers Police.
