CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police say they have questioned the husband of Wednesday's fatal shooting victim, but have not made any arrests.

Cape Coral Police identified the shooting victim as 58-year-old Victoria Brown.  She was found dead in her home of a gunshot wound in the 2900 block of SE 8th Place on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators took Victoria's husband, 58-year-old Vernon Brown, Jr., into custody for questioning, but he was allowed to leave with family members.

Police say there is no danger to the community, but are still investigating the shooting.  A search warrant was issued for the home and is in the process of being served.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirms that Vernon Brown was a Deputy First Class with the agency for four years, before voluntarily resigning in 1999.

More updates are expected on this case.
