Paraglider crashes into power lines causing electric burns, power outage

A paraglider became entangled with some power lines Tuesday morning, injuring the pilot.

According to St. Pete Fire Rescue, the person was trying to land or takeoff but got tangled up in the power lines. As of now, the parachute is still tangled and the power company is on scene.

37 Duke Energy customers are reportedly without power.

The pilot was taken to Bayfront and treated for electrical burns and shock.

It happened in the area of 5901 1st Ave. N in St. Pete.
