GOLDEN GATE, Fla. -- A 25-year-old Naples man died and 5 others were injured in a Collier County crash early Wednesday morning after the truck he was riding in crashed into a canal.

Jerimiah Hernandez died in the crash just before 12:30am.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Jaden Sanchez of Naples was driving of pickup truck with 5 passengers west on 3rd Avenue NW from Collier Boulevard.  That's when the truck hit a traffic control barrier at the end of the road and went into a canal.

Troopers say Hernandez was riding in the front passenger seat, and was taken to Physician's Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  Three other passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals.  The driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries.  Two of the passengers had been riding in the bed of the crew cap truck at the time of the crash.

Right now it is unknown if alcohol played a role in the crash. Charges are pending.
