Arrest made in Tom Petty guitar theft
CULVER CITY, Calif. (AP) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of five guitars belonging to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Police identified the arrested man as Daryl Emmette Washington, 51, of Los Angeles, a private security guard at The Culver Studios lot where the guitars were stolen.
Investigators say the suspect pawned one of the vintage instruments at a Hollywood pawn shop.
The five guitars taken last week hade a collective value of $100,000
