Southwest Florida counties in top health rankings
Collier – “We are thrilled to be back in the top three, again,” reports Dr. Joan Colfer, Director, Florida
Department of Health in Collier County.
Collier County ranked as the third healthiest county in the state behind first and second ranking St. Johns and Martin counties.
In the past four years, since the rankings were established, Collier County has consistently ranked within the top four out of 67 counties in Florida.
Lee county was ranked number 11 this year, after being in the number 24 spot in 2012.
Charlotte County is at number 28, Sarasota County is number 5 and Broward County is number 9.
These rankings serve as a snapshot of the health of individuals across counties in each state. The
report highlights that health is a combined work in progress across a variety of community partners.
The Florida Department of Health (DOH), through its county health departments, works together to
improve the health of all Floridians.
The data used in these rankings are available in each state and include information related to physical environment, social and economic factors, health behaviors, education, crime rate/law enforcement and clinical care.
