EAST NAPLES, Fla. -

An East Naples woman is in jail tonight charged for the murder of her husband. According to a Sheriff's report, just before 11 Monday night, an out of town relative called authorities to say the couple had been fighting at their home on Provincetown Drive. When deputies got to the house, they say 68-year-old Helen Johns was on the porch, her husband, 72 year old Jack Johns was inside dead. Deputies said it looked like there had been a struggle, a bullet hole in a TV and china cabinet and a handgun on a bed. Friend and neighbor Lois Bournstine said she's in disbelief.

" They had an anniversary party a couple of years ago. We were there they invited a lot of people and they got up and danced." Bournstine said.

But Lois said her and her husband noticed the couple had been under a lot of pressure. Jack Johns had diabetes, a severe leg infection and couldn't walk.

"she's been under a lot of stress"  "He went to the hospital just last week or so. She told me she was staying with him next thing I know this happened." Bournstine said.

Friends said it'll always be a mystery to them why the couples' life together ended so tragically.

"She was always taking care of him, wheeling him around. So you think they were happy? Yes" Bournstine said.

Helen Johns has been charged with 2nd degree murder. According to the Sheriff's report, she asked detectives several times for blood to be drawn to check for anything in her system. The Collier County Sheriff's office is still investigating.
