Cape Coral, Fla. - Its a bird, its a plane... or something close to it. This weekend Cape Coral was home to this year's "Gathering of the Giants", where pilots from all over the country came to Cape Coral. Fox 4's Chris Day takes a look at some impressive planes, and their pilots.

Mac Hodges has been flying remote control planes... for a few years now.

"Since I was eight years old, and I'm 68 now, so 60 years"

He drives down every year from Georgia to show off his plane, and his skills.

"The falt spin... four point roll... we do a loop... we do an inverted pass... The purists say well you shouldn't be doing that with a scale airplane"

This is the 19th annual event sponsored by the Cape Coral R-Sea hawks.

"Now you don't need a pilot's licensce to fly these aircraft... but it does help to have a little practice."

Mac certainly has a lot more experience than myself, and he says his flight was a definite success.

"It went great, as you can see the plane is still in one piece, which is always a plus"

As he packs up to head back to Georgia, Mac looks forward to flying with the giants again, next year.

"The commrodery, the traveling, its just a lot of fun. Its a neat hobby, you meet a lot of nice people, we really enjoy traveling to these meets and visiting with people, and flying our airplanes."
