Brush fire shuts down Lee County road
LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A brush fire in the eastern portion of Lee County is closing down a state road in both directions.
State Road 82 is closed to eastbound traffic at Columbus Road. The road is closed for westbound travelers at the Hendry County line.
This area is just southwest of Lehigh Acres.
The Florida Division of Forestry tells FOX 4 the 20-acre fire was a controlled burn that jumped the fire line.
The fire is now 100% contained. The road closure is due to heavy smoke in the area.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office advises motorists to use a different route, the road is expected to be closed for at least a few more hours.
No structures were threatened with this fire.
We have a crew headed to the scene and will bring you the latest details on-air and online.
