Major milestone for Fort Myers hospital fundraiser
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lee Memorial Health System Foundation received a big chunk of a $20 million pledge from Tom Golisano for its new children's hospital.
Golisano paid $10 million of his pledge because the community has pushed past half of the $20 million challenge grant he proposed less than a year ago.
Since the challenge money has poured in for the new Golisano Children's Hospital which is expected to open on the grounds of HealthPark in South Fort Myers in 2016.
"It brings me great joy to witness such generosity and to see the community working together so enthusiastically," said Golisano. "It truly is a testament to the level of support for a new children's hospital and how vital the services are that Lee Memorial Health System provides to the community."
Lee Memorial Health System President Jim Nathan accepted the gift from Golisano last week.
