Deep Creek condos evacuated due to smoke
DEEP CREEK, Fla. - A transformer explosion forced the evacuation of a three story unit at the Heritage Lake Park condominiums in Deep Creek this morning.
The explosion sent smoke into the unit setting off smoke detectors and prompting a full response from the Charlotte County Fire Department.
All of the residents were evacuated while firefighters checked out the problem.
That unit and others are now without power and will be for a few more hours while Florida Power and Light makes repairs.
