Loss of license proposed for Bonita Springs doctor

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - A state judge recommended that Bonita Springs doctor Zannos Grekos lose his medical license.
The judge says Grekos, a cardiologist, committed medical malpractice when he used an unproven stem cell treatment on a patient.
Administrative law judge J. Lawrence Johnston issued a 25 page recommendation to the state Board of Medicine.
Besides revocation of Grekos' license the judge recommended a $20,000.
The case stems from the death of one of Grekos' patients following the stem-cell therapy in April 2010.
The state Board of Medicine will make a final ruling based on the judge's recommendations.
