Brush fire near Golden Gate High School
NAPLES, Fla.- A slow moving brush fire burned near Golden Gate High School on Monday. The fire happened in a wooded area near the school and a nearby canal.
It was difficult for crews to access the fire because of thick vegetation. The fire started last night around 10:45pm. Crews with Golden Gate Fire monitored in on Monday. Fire officials call it suspicious.
"There's no other reason for the fire to have started. At 10:45 last night, we had no weather conditions to create the brush fire and children were seen earlier that evening in the wooded area," said Interim Fire Chief Nolan Sapp.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire is not threatening the school or any homes.
