Brush fires in Charlotte County
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Fire crews were on scene of a few brush fires this afternoon.
The first on Bermont Road in Port Charlotte where about 400 acres burned and threatening structures. This fire is about 95 percent contained.
The Lee County Strike team and Florida Forest service were on the scene of this fire.
Another fire was burning in Rotunda on Jade Street in the area of some residential neighborhoods.
Most of the roads in that area have reopened and the fire is at 70 acres and 90 percent contained.
In that fire two structures were lost both hunting camps.
Now Elsie Porter owns a Charlotte County ranch which a few years ago a big brush fire tore through. The ranch now serves as a command post for another Florida brush fire.
Fire crews say this was not a controlled burn and are investigating the cause of the fire.
