Search for shooter after attempted robbery
FORT MYERS, Fla. - An unwelcome visitor near a Fort Myers home is on the run after shooting overnight.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says a man encountered another man he didn't know near his driveway on Ortiz Avenue just after midnight Sunday morning.
He then says the suspect showed him a gun and attempted to rob him.
It quickly escalated and the would-be-robber shot the man in the leg.
He is being treated at a hospital and is expected to be ok.
The shooter is descirbed as a dark-skinned black male, between 25 and 40 years old, approximately 5 foot 7 inches tall with a thin build. The suspect was clean shaven and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy black pants.
