Naples man seriously injured in hit and run
NAPLES, Fla. - An early morning scooter ride turned dangerous for a Naples man who was the victim of a hit and run near I-75 and Golden Gate Parkway.
The Thursday morning incident happened as 47-year-old Howard Vanpelt was riding east on the right side of the right lane on Golden Gate Parkway according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say a vehicle came up behind Vanpelt striking his scooter, throwing him to the roadway.
The driver fled the scene. They may have been driving a Dodge or Chrysler.
The crash left Vanpelt in serious condition. Troopers believe the driver's vehicle should have damage to the right headlght.
